Re: Industrial Table [WRECKAGE]

I love how you "ruined" everything. I wish I was a fly on a wall that could watch you create all your amazing pieces and finishes. The table top was a great inpiration piece.

Re: 100 YEAR OLD DOOR is gorgeous! What about making a hall tree. You can add hooks and a mirror, maybe a bench to sit on?

Make sure you post what you do with it!

Re: pet bed

Girl, you have vision!! Amazing.

Did you save the top? You could make it into a lazy susan or something. I am doing that now with a found object that is similar in shape and size.

Re: Vanity Dresser turned to Desk

What a great partnership of the vanity and headboard. Very creative!

Re: Globe Southern Hemisphere Floor Lamp

I love how you got 2 from 1! These are out of this world.

Re: Hall Tree On Steroids

This is the Mack Daddy of all Hall Trees. The detail is amazing!!

Re: A new kitchen light

OMG you solved my problem! I love the idea of the door on the ceiling to camouflage all the mishaps! Very resourceful. Very clever. I love it! Just brilliant.

Wow! What a transformation. You have vision girl!

Re: Please help us....we would like to be a bench someday....

A creamy white that has been aged to perfection with linen fabric seems to be hot right now. They are very neutral. Here is some inspiration from Wisteria. The linen is more comfy than burlap, even though I do love burlap which may get "nappy" over time.
Good luck. Share the after pix.

Re: [WRECKAGE] Cabinet

Wreckage...I love it! Much like a train wreck, you will have plenty of "rubber neckers" who are trying to sneak a peek and won't be able to take their eyes off the wreckage!

Yes, do tell. Where will it be sold!?

Congrats Jim. Wreckage will be a great success.

Re: "Olde Tyme" Collage

Re: Late Bloomers...

Ah, the smell of a sweet, successful project. I loved this project so much that I had a dream about finding mini shoe stretcher to make these. Too funny! So creative and beautiful!

I adore these! And I love how you embellish are the queen of embellishing. In fact, when I finish a piece I often say, "now what would Janis do to make it complete?" You would have been proud on some candlesticks I just made. Thanks for the inspiration.

Re: Shimmer Me Timbers

Seriously, Sue never ceases to amaze me. Are you all with me on that one? Scratch that. I already know the answer to that.

One of my favorite Sue Show Stoppers was this "Shimmer me Timbers" Project. This is actually what introduced me to JunkMarket Style. I was googling unique light fixtures for a client and stumbled upon this post. It was an older post, so much to my delight, there were many, many more where that came from.

As I clicked on "Shimmer Me Timbers" my discovery went something like this:

"Well, blow me down! This is the coolest creation I have ever seen. And what? What's that you say? It's made of junk? You gotta be kidding me! So, who is this little Miss Sue Who anyway?" And thus my addiction to JunkMarketStyle was born! Hello, my name is Marybeth and I am addicted to JunkMarketStyle.

This project really caught my eye. I loved the crystals and how they just sparkled with the candlelight. It totally screams upscale spa to me. And, I especially loved how she paired it with a rusty chain and floor grate. Clearly a perfect marriage. What? No! Crystals, rusty chain and grates the perfect marriage? Seriously? OK, so when Sue does it, it seems so obvious and makes just perfect sense. And yes, it is the perfect marriage but I never would have thought of that! Man, how does she come up with these things?

Not only does Sue come up with insanely unique projects, but her play by play commenting is hilarious- I repeat, hilarious! She talks about hookamajigs, ruffly numbers and such which all just make me laugh out loud. I look forward to viewing her posts as much as reading them.

So, little Miss Sue Who, there is just no stopping you in all your creativity and for that we are grateful. And please keep up the shimmy shimmy cocoa pop commentating.

Hats off to you Sue!

Happy Days,

Re: Sugar and Spice....Make a Nice Christmas Tree

I love this! I just went to our festival of trees. This would have been a show stopper there. So clever. There was one there called "We Whisk You a Merry Christmas". Would go well with this one. I am currently searching for an old whiskey barrel to use at the bottom of my big Xmas tree. I love unique bases and this one tops the list. Very cool!

Re: A Junker's Nuts and Bolts Bin

I am green with envy!!! Love it!

Re: Nature's Junk

I used leftover sealer from my outdoor deck b/c it was on hand and free. I don't have the can anymore but if you check in the deck stain/sealer section of a Home Improvement store you can find something. I bet marine varnish would work great too.
Hope that helps.

Re: "Jazzy" Radio Light...

AWESOME repurpose. So clever and unique. LOVE it!

Re: Quick simple fix

It was in the frame. I am not sure what to call it but it feels just like what pegboard is made out, minus the holes of course. I assume a Home Improvement store would have it. Plywood is heavy and very pourus (sp?). I wonder if plexiglass would work. Never painted it myself but have seen it painted before. Both the pegboard like wood (lightweight) and plexiglass can be cut at the stores. Let me know what you try!
Good luck.

I can not contain myself! Love it!

Re: Vintage Leather Suitcase

Is there a superman suit in that suitcase??

Re: Push Lawnmower Lamp

Jenny, I think you and the JunkArchitect were separated at birth. The two of you amaze me. What I love is that your creations all seem so "natural". Even though they are made from totally random and obscure objects, they just look that they were meant to be that way. That is a huge kudo. You have enormous talent. I love seeing your posts! Thank you for sharing and inspiring.

Re: Deep Fried Decor - A Floral Welcome

The details and layers on this design are amazing! What a special holiday treat. Thanks for sharing.

Re: A Day at the Beach

p.s. some of my friends use clear adhesive caulk to glue stuff to windows. (they call it plumbers caulk). I haven't tried it but wanted to pass it along, for what its worth.

Re: A Day at the Beach

I love memorable pieces! This is beachy keen!

Re: Re-Purposed Player Piano Roll Lamp!

Wow, forget Motel can leave this light on for me anytime!
Super cool.

"What's in the box, what's in the box, we gotta find out what's in the box...OOOH!" Those were lyrics from a fun little ditty on some childhood show...can't remember what it was for the life of me. But, this clever little project is something I will not forget! The details make it top notch!
Great job.

Re: An En-Lightening Project that's Music to My Ears!

You certainly need to toot your own horn on this one. This is beyond fantastic! Way to go.

I love everything about had some serious vision my friend. Fabu!

Re: HELP PLEASE! Sideboard and Hutch is not me....Can you ladies help me with some sort of painting technique?

What about starting with one piece first to see if that makes enough of a difference? I love a black finish. You can sand the edges and places that would naturally show some wear. Or I have even painted a side table black with a crackle finish on the top - gold undertone in the crackle part. I can email pix if you would like. Black goes with everything and I think it would work well in your room. I think the sideboard would be easier. The detail on the front of the glass hutch would be tricky. Let us know what you decide. I just bought a sideboard that looks very similar to yours and I am going to paint it black. Good luck.

Re: How to Make a shelf out of a Infants bed

You ROCK the cradle! I 100% love this transformation. You continue to amaze me. Thanks for sharing.

Re: Table

I love this...the display can change with the seasons and holidays!

Re: Old window art created from recycled glass

This is beautiful! What kind of glue did you use? I have a window screaming for some attention! I always like to find out what everyone's glue of choice is b/c there are far too many to choose from!

This project just blows we away. Absolutely fantastic.

Re: "Fan" cy Jewelry Organizer

Ths is FANtabulous! I have never seen such a cool face on the front of a fan before. Such a clever use and decorative way to showcase your jewelery. Love it!

Re: How to Make a Valentine's Day Planter.

I just love the juxtaposition of the galvanized metal with the pretty in pink ribbon. Awesome job!

Re: Just coasting along...

A non-junking resource for tiles is of course at home improvement store. Yes, I just mentioned a retail store so in order to appease the junk gods, please use recylced paper, magazines, or remnants if you go that route.

Re: Just coasting along...

Yes, these were made with paintable, textured wallpaper. But, I have painted over all wallpapers, even tbose with color.

Re: Just coasting along...

If you have a Habitat Restore, check there or salvage shops.

Re: Glass Cigar Tubes - Totally Tubular Project

OK, this is what I call a CandyGram!! You continue to deliver amazingly beautiful project ideas. The thing I love best about your style is that your transformation look like they belong on the pages of Ballard Design. One would never know that they started from junk! Can't wait to receive the next CandyGram!!! - MB

OK, this gift just keeps on giving. The pendant is beautiful and the box is the cherry on top. If I had to choose between getting a Tiffany Blue Box and this one, I would choose yours hands down. This is gorgeous and the layering of elements is fabu! Way to think outside the regular old gift box!! Thanks for sharing. -MB

I just saw this...such a clever repurpose.
Love it!-MB

Re: Is this the year I finally get organized?

I love the look of the shutter mail holder! I have two shutters waiting to be repurposed in my garage. I shutter to think of all the possibilities! (Sorry, I couldn't resist the pun!) I think I am going to use it in my boys room to hold photos. They love to change them out all the time. What kind of paneling did you add on the back? Fabulous job on all 4. Way to repurpose!

Re: Ski Tip Table

Thanks to everyone for the support and great vote of confidence. As my Mom always said, "you are only as good as those you surround yourself with." So getting involved with such a creative community can only make us that much better.
p.s. I did not break my 60 day challenge of no craft stores. I made this before the New Year. JunkArchitect's UnCola table inspired me to post it. Next time, I will be hitting Jim Healy up for some architectural guidance!!

Re: Ski Tip Table

Funktional Junk - Skatboards would be so cool and you wouldn't have to cut them. That was the hard part b/c I had to cut thru some metal. You can do so many cool things with skateboards like book shelves, coat rack, so snatch them up!! Feel free to email me with questions if you build a table, we can figure it out together. Love it. I think I will try that too, but I haven't seen any skateboards.

Re: Upcycle your cabinet doors: Part 1

I have become a night owl and they go to preschool. Plus, some of these have already been done. I just needed to take photos and share! I've been doing this awhile, just haven't found the right place to share until now. "You are only as good as those you surround yourself with". Anyway, I add cork and a layer of styrofoam insulation (a huge sheet you find at the hardware store for like $5. I like it for the depth) Glue the cork to the cut to size insulation. The cork is key or else the push pins, etc. don't stay in good. Wrap and cover with fabric. You can either spray glue, tape, staple or however you want to attach the fabric b/c no on will see the back of it. Choose a fabric that will hide the pin holes well. I use big pieces of hook and loop tape (velcro) to adhere the fabric/cork/styrofoam component to the cabinet door front. That way if I ever get sick of the fabric I can just take it off. Does that make sense? It's late, time for bed! I can take a photo of the styrofoam insulation and add it later if you need me to.
