Can you believe this cabinet was headed to the dumpster?
My dad saved it for me. It was missing the back, a top and a piece on the bottom.
I love all the period details. These latches still work, even with several coats of old paint layered on them.
It still has the original wavy glass.
We werent sure what to do with the sides . A plank was laminted to the side to beef it up a little.
I traced a shape I liked onto the sides.
My dad cut them out and shaped them for me.
They turned out to be one of my favorite parts of the cabinet.
My husband added beaded board to make the back.
Another plank and some trim were added to make a top. I used Vaseline to make the paint look chipped. It helps disguise the new parts.
I absolutely LOVE it!

A little (OK, a lot!) of work plus paint and lumber turned part of an old built in china hutch into one of my favorite pieces.

EdwardThirlwall writes: Now it looks more refreshing and clean as opposed to its old and dull self. I have also repainted my old storage cabinets to give it a fresh outlook just to welcome the summer. I added a few minor detailings like carvings by the door and a new pair of knobs for that personal touch. Posted: 10:33 pm on July 4th
