Feather Filled Ornament

Feather Filled Ornament

Photo: Sherri Spear

This post is for dragonflytreasures...hope you see this.  When I saw your ornament makeover post I had to share this.  I bought these empty glass ornaments from Michaels to fill with feathers for my bird and nest inspired tree.  I wanted them to look more rustic so I took the tops off and dropped them in my "secret aging chemical" and although the wire tops came out perfect, the cheesy-looking silver cap disappeared completely!  What to do...I had no way to cap and hang them!  So I looked around the workshop and found an old handle off of something that was the right diameter, went over to the chop saw and made these little wood buttons, drilled a couple of holes and there you have it, a much more natural looking ornament.  For ornament hangers I used one of my "staples"--rusted "s" hooks made from drapery pins.  I clip off the sharp end and then rust them out.  They are handy for everthing.

Paso Robles has about 300 wineries, fabulous restaurants, beautiful weather and a charming downtown right out of a Norman Rockwell....just sayin'... Posted: 8:58 am on December 17th
