Christmas Eve Lamp

Lots and lots of tag sale finds.
All ready for the big night.

Vintage Christmas tree stand...the perfect lamp base.
You guessed it...a birch branch.

The shade is an antique fire bucket.
It would have been filled with sand and then tossed onto a fire. The cone shape kept the sand from sticking. Jeez…you better hope it’s a teeny fire.

Although it may not be obvious there’s a lot of old stuff in this photo.

The power cord is a set of vintage Christmas lights.
On the end of the pull chain is the tip of an old funnel.
The socket stem sits in an antique doorknob escutcheon (top of birch branch)
And who knows how old the birch tree was before it crashed to the ground.

A string of lights is mixed in with a bunch of vintage ornaments.
Check out the old bakery crate. If they still shipped baked goods in crates like this Id forget about the cupcakes and buy the crate!

Don’t forget to leave Santa some Irish coffee and a couple biscotti’s.

Come on, your kids need some kind of lighting when they sneak downstairs in the middle of the night to see how many presents are around the tree…right? And don’t forget...old Santa needs to find the liquor cabinet and cookies.
