My "new" lamp made from a parts from our local scrap yard.
My husband just shook his head when I came home from the scrap yard with this. It's a an old generator from a motor. The wheel turns, the piston still goes up and down, and I just had to have it!
Here's the piston down...(which gives me a place to put a small jar with flowers, or glass beads - even an old croquet ball looks good there!)
I love the oil gauge on the back!
I also found a bunch of this rusted metal that I thought would be good for - well, good for something! In this case, a lampshade!
My "new" lamp made from a parts from our local scrap yard.
During my weekly trip to the scrap yard, I found this old generator and some cool scrap metal that looked like fringe to me. It took a lot of elbow grease to clean it up, wire it for use as a lamp, and mount it on an old piece of redwood from our old fence. The shade I made from the fringed metal scrap which I riveted together. I used wire to attach it to the lamp harp. My husband is still shaking his head, but I'm used to that. I'm happy with it, and it'll grow on him! (I hope!)

Nice! Almost "steampunk-ish" looking!
