I am not sure if I'm a junker or just a packrat. Either way, I have always kept stuff...just in case. I love new (in an old way), odd, different...things that make people cock their head and laugh. But even more than that, I am fascinated by shape and color, and the ways things play together. I love the old and everyday things, stuff with a past. Once I figured out that that stuff was cheaper to buy (or even FREE), it became a way of life.
I'm a happily married, homeschooling mama of a preteen wonder boy (just ask him!), and absolutely love having him home all day. I have spent much of my adult life chasing old textiles and junk, then trying to find ingenious ways of storing or using them. Sometimes it works, others not so much!
I wish I could tell you that in the rest of my life I am a domestic goddess, but that would be lying. I quilt, garden, scrapbook, make jewelry, and sometimes even cook and do laundry. I have learned that a little "playtime" everyday is a wonderful thing.

I am new to this site, but not to the junk world. I'm just glad to know there is a "support group" for people like me...who knew? Here are pics of a few things I have found...

Re: Don't Be Chicken! Guess What this used to be...
Hey! I have an incubator as a coffee table too...but I did NOT get it for $5...how I wish! And mine needed a little TLC (to keep the legs from tipping it over) but Gorilla glue and a couple of screws to the rescue and it is a terrific table!

Nice idea. Will you keep the neutral one out all year or...?

I could see that neutral tree out all year in a pretty and quirky arrangement, lots of texture but little color. Nice idea. Lori

I love the neutral-colored tree...I could see it out all year in a pretty grouping. Lori

Oooh, that is wonderful! I'm not sure why you would need to press lard unless you were actually making it, but then you would want to smush out all the extra yucky stuff, like the oils. These were actually sort of like a grinder or a press...you could push fruit through it, or lard, or even stuff sausage with it. Aren't you glad you asked? :-)

Re: Mint Tin Frame
Aren't mint tins great? I made gift card holders out of them this last Christmas, but did not think to put a photograph on top. Very clever!
