I am 25 years old and have recently become obsessed with garage sales, yard sales, and barn sales! None of my friends seem to understand why I dont shop at normal stores. I love it anyway! My biggest challenge is not buying enough and regretting it later. I am having a blast turning junk into treasure!

Puppy Love Vase

I found an interesting old jar at a garage sale and decided to collage on it using vintage magazines and books. I imagine it being used to display flowers given to a girl by her first "crush."

Harvest TIME

A mix of junk, old and new, from yard sales. Time for harvest!

Spooktacular Halloween

I bought an old window from a garage sale for $1, and didn't know what to do with it. My friend gave me the "Spooktacular" rub-on wall art as a gift (Uppercase Living), and I thought the two would...

Junky Snowmen

I was invited to a "White Elephant" Christmas party where each person had to bring a home-made gift. This was a fun project! The snowmen are just some fence-post scraps with added junk! Now, the only...

A Traveler's Bag from Christmases Past

Just some junk for the season!

Junkin' Jewels

ALL of these jewels were acquired during one weekend of junking bliss! I really found a lot, and also had a blast! I would appreciate any creative ideas or tips you may have - I'm new to the junking...

Easy Fix for "Lost" Wall Quotations

I love wall quotes, but sometimes they seem to get "lost" on the wall and don't stand out enough. I recently started putting empty frames around them to make the wall quote "pop!"

Re: Chalk Liner Wreath

Sue,
I love your work. You're such an inspiration. I am 25 years old, just got married, bought a home, and am in love with junking! I know this might be a stupid question, but I will ask it anyway. Your Today Show segment got me thinking - How do you know if a piece of furniture or a wonderful find (suitcase, trunk, etc.) is safe to put in your home? A lot of these things I've been finding are dirty, and I also don't know if they have mold in them because I've never really seen mold before. What I'm saying is, I guess I just don't know the difference between "old" and "mold" (that could be a poem!).Obviously I clean them before using them, but are there some things that should just stay outside? What is the best way to clean dirty junk? Please don't think I'm clueless, but I just wanted some advice on how to make sure the junk I'm bringing into my home is safe. Hope this makes sense. Thank you SO much!
