My sister is a junkie too!!!! She and my brother-in-law own a restaurant on the Outer Banks of NC. Being a junkie too, but not a big fan of the computer, I wanted to post her super cool...
Wine bottle garden border
My sister saw this idea in an edition of Southern Living magazine. They used lighting in their project, but I couldn't figure out how to do that. Use empty (some by me, but most from Sunday afternoon...
Lights, color, glass
Having space between my kitchen cabinets and the ceiling, I needed a filler. Not being a basket or artifical plant kind of girl, I started collecting glass vases from yard sales, wine bottles, and...
New life for an old kitchen cabinet door
A friend was remodeling her kitchen and knew I loved to make something out of nothing. A group of friends met one Saturday a month for some crafting and we had an artist come in to help us with...
Stools are not just for sitting
This stool was left behind in a basement. I sanded, primed and painted white. I then covered the top with some leftover fabric. I have used this to hold many things, none of which have been a person...
Painted Bedside Table
This table had been sitting in my in-law's garage for who knows how long. Instead of allowing them to throw it out, I took it home and got to work. Sanded, primed and painted base white. Used acrylic...
Suitcases
I had been wanting to put something under my sideboard, but not the usual plants or books. Walking the dog one day, two circa 1960s Samsonite suitcases were being thrown away. One person's trash is...
Bedside Table
The bases for this project are two plantars a friend's sister used at her wedding. They were white and not in that great of shape. I sanded, primed and used a flat chocolate brown spray paint. I then...
Oyster Shell Fireplace
My fireplace was very dull. The surrounding was just a black slab that the builder had used. I saw this idea in a magazine, not sure which one. After a few oyster roasts, I had saved the shells...
Sap Buckets
As a going away present from some friends in Vermont, I was given some original sap buckets. I drilled holes in the bottoms, dented a few spots in on the back, bottom edge so the buckets wouldnt...
Painted window
This old, rotted window, was salvaged from an old home we not so lovingly called the "crack shack." When we moved (after the house was fixed up), I took the window with me to remind me of where we...

How did you cut the trashcan? We are wanting to a screened in porch with a very basic tin roof-trash can would be perfect! I will be keeping my eye for those now!

Great idea!!! I am always looking for yard art and really want the Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil statue, but don't want to pay the hefty price tag. Maybe I can find a lampstand as a substitute. How did your husband cut off the top?

I had no idea that I would be giving so many ideas for the painted suitcases. If it stays still long enough, I will paint it!! My non-crafty husband who usually notices nothing I do (I think he just understands that I will come up with whatever and just rolls with it)has told me that every room should have something black. No clue where he got that. I just used some spray paint on hand!

Oh, this sideboard is awesome!!! It was a Christmas present from my inlaws. They live in Charlotte, NC and the piece was purchased there. My m-i-l LOVES sideboards and said she got a great deal on this one. My m-i-l has fabulous taste: in fact, she has often asked if I would trade with her. The sideboard is on the smaller side, one door will not open great hardware too. Not sure of the year or the history, I just know it's gorgeous and I am still scratching my head over how and why my m-i-l gave this one up! Lucky me.

I went to the suggested Photosize.com and that site is unbelievably easy! The best part is it's free! Thanks so much barkingdogs for the info.

Love the shelf. I have a board with glass knobs holding my girls dress and the dress I wore as a child. I wanted to add my picture and my husbands' picture and now I have the idea! Thanks so much!!
