I got the Junkin bug while researching the design theme for our family room. I discovered blogs which introduced me to repurposing and recylcing vintage items. I found that I was fairly good at restyling wood furniture into the rustic look. (If you want rustic, roughed up looking furniture, Im your girl! LOL)
I also came across the Vintage Industrial look while skipping through these blogs. I loved the combination of reclaimed barn wood with iron and steel from long forgotten factories. Especially the creativity of the designs.
While digging around for vintage industrial items, I was fortunate enough to obtain a large variety of wooden foundry patterns. As I cleaned off the 70 to 80 years of grime, the wood grain, craftsmanship and unique beauty of these items came shining through. They provided the softness needed for a room decorated with iron and steel.
As I revived these wood items, I found a sentimental value in the quality of the craftsmanship, from the Greatest Generation, my grandfathers generation. The skill required to make the wooden foundry patterns by hand and their enduring quality, is truely unique to the workers of that time.
I hope that you enjoy these items, and continue to stop by my shopfor a look at these unique and interesting items.
