Ok, guys. Just had to share some of my friend, Laura's awesome repurposed junk projects they have in their home. Truly beautiful! I'm posting for her to help her out. This project embraces the sentiment behind Junk Beautiful. Congratulations for beautifully incorporating something from the past into the architecture of your new home. Gretchen (Mimi)

Re: JUNKMARKET Leaded Window Finds a New Home

Hi Sue and everyone! It's so exciting to see photos of my house online. The urns in the picture also came from JunkMarket. After losing 6 expensive ivy topiaries, I had to go with fake. I ripped off most of the real (and sadly dead) leaves, and wound fake ivy into the form. Leaving a few dead leaves, and the pretty stems, makes them look more real. Those real ones can be a money pit and they require constant baby-sitting. Just ask Jamie.

You can't see the white glittered ball too well, but my dh calls it the Orb of Knowledge. It's a styrofoam ball from WalMart, covered with old pages ripped from an antique college poetry book. I Mod-Podged over the entire ball, then pressed old German mica into areas between the poems. It looks pretty good for less than $10, and can be rotated for seasonal poems.

Re: Free Cupboard

Your welcome Laura. Hopefully, the rest of the ladies figured out that I was posting/taking photos for you of your house/projects and therefore the complimentary posts.
I think that cupboard is about a $2,000 gift from dh, so several things together is o.k. It's what one would call
"a labor of love".

Re: Free Cupboard

Thank you Gretchen for taking all these fotos! I think you did a great job. I couldn't have bragged about the cupboard as freely as you did! Even though my DH did all the work. I remember looking at it, in a pole barn and covered with grease and cobwebs, and thinking that anything with corbels shouldn't just be dismantled. That's when I started begging, and now he calls it my birthday, Christmas, and anniversary gifts for the next several years.

It is beautiful! No need to be jealous Lani. Your house is fabulous, but she does have dh that was a builder, so that is the key! You can have a husband make your hair beautiful or your furniture. You can't have it all.
