What about starting with one piece first to see if that makes enough of a difference? I love a black finish. You can sand the edges and places that would naturally show some wear. Or I have even painted a side table black with a crackle finish on the top - gold undertone in the crackle part. I can email pix if you would like. Black goes with everything and I think it would work well in your room. I think the sideboard would be easier. The detail on the front of the glass hutch would be tricky. Let us know what you decide. I just bought a sideboard that looks very similar to yours and I am going to paint it black. Good luck.

Re: Ski Tip Table
Funktional Junk - Skatboards would be so cool and you wouldn't have to cut them. That was the hard part b/c I had to cut thru some metal. You can do so many cool things with skateboards like book shelves, coat rack, so snatch them up!! Feel free to email me with questions if you build a table, we can figure it out together. Love it. I think I will try that too, but I haven't seen any skateboards.

Just a thought...I have seen someone who made a memo board out of a drop in ceiling tile. It is messy though. You could probably use that if you have any around. They are at home improvement stores too. The styrofoam board I get is white with lettering on one side and silver on the other other. There is a real name for it but I am not sure what it is. Cut it with a nice sharp blade.
posted: 3:01 pm on January 6thRe: Upcycle your cabinet doors: Part 1
I have become a night owl and they go to preschool. Plus, some of these have already been done. I just needed to take photos and share! I've been doing this awhile, just haven't found the right place to share until now. "You are only as good as those you surround yourself with". Anyway, I add cork and a layer of styrofoam insulation (a huge sheet you find at the hardware store for like $5. I like it for the depth) Glue the cork to the cut to size insulation. The cork is key or else the push pins, etc. don't stay in good. Wrap and cover with fabric. You can either spray glue, tape, staple or however you want to attach the fabric b/c no on will see the back of it. Choose a fabric that will hide the pin holes well. I use big pieces of hook and loop tape (velcro) to adhere the fabric/cork/styrofoam component to the cabinet door front. That way if I ever get sick of the fabric I can just take it off. Does that make sense? It's late, time for bed! I can take a photo of the styrofoam insulation and add it later if you need me to.

That was my guess too! I second that vote Now I am trying to think of a fun way to repurpose. It could be a cute kids toy where you either paint or decoupage pairs of images on them that they have to match up or something. Like a memory game. Or you could write a bunch of different letters that spell out words on one side and just turn them to change the message/letters. Let us know what you do with it...or you may just end up using it as a retreat for your feet.

My personal challenge is to not spend a dime at any shop. I have so many thrift store finds to transform and complete. I will use only the supplies on hand. Which means when I run out of store bought glue, I have to find a way to stick stuff together using something esle. If I run out of paint, I may have to turn to something like coffee or tea to use to stain, etc. Does this help? I personally can't wait to see what you come up with. I was viewing your stuff...so cool! It is going to be hard but it will really force me to be resourceful and creative. Move over MacGyver, we am coming at ya!
