I'm 61 and so ready to retire...if I just had the funds. I am single but have a significant other. He and I have been together 5 years and the big "M" word has been coming up pretty often. I am twice divorced so not sure if I want to do it again. Some say "third time is the charm" but I don't know about that. I love to go to the beach and get my batteries recharged by watching the calm of the ocean. He prefers the lake...fishing for him. I love to look at all the great ideas that come from the decorating magazines that I collect. Every time I move I just hate to disgard my magazines, but eventually in an apartment you have to downsize. I love to go to resale shops and love garage sales. I have found some pretty unique junk. My grandmother took my sister and I "junking" when we were just kids and we continue to go as often as possible. I have even gotten some of my friends going. Love the challenge of what I find!

Re: Cover a Thermostat
I covered by thermostate 30 years ago with a basket and put artifical ivy in it. I just lifted it off when I needed to change the temp. I had forgotten about it. Now I live in an apt and the thermostate and air return are next to each other and will try and do something like this again. I decorate with all beach stuff so will have to put my thinking cap on to come up with something.

Good idea. I recently decided to do something similar with my 40 year old ornate chest of drawers. I repainted it a soft light aqua/teal green and since my whole place is decorated in the beach theme (hence my name). I did not want to buy new knobs so I bought an old macrame belt that looked like leather and cut it up and ran through the holes and knotted them. It looks great! I will post a picture.
