Beach Ball
Close-up
Heres a mosaic bowling ball - a scene from a broken teapot is the center, and the base of the teapot is now the base of the piece.

Beach Ball

In it's former life, yes, you guessed (or maybe not...) - this was rolling down the lane of a bowling alley (or in my case, probably the gutter) !  I like it much better now!

I love the beach and have a zillion shells collected from vacations in Florida over the years - so it was time to start using some.

I've done mosaic on a bowling ball (and other things) before, and thought I'd try it with shells.  It was a lot easier because there wasn't any cleaning of the tiles/glass after.  I globbed on the grout and stuck the shells and sea glass in - so some look kind of like they're partially buried in the sand.  You have to do it in sections so it'll dry, turning it over bit by bit.  While the grout was still wet, I sprinkled sand over it to hide the "white" grout - I really like how it turned out!

It's probably the heaviest beach ball in the world...(about 15 pounds to be exact)!
