Yo-Yo Picture Hanger
August 23rd, 2008 in projectsWhen I found these yo-yos, it took me right back to my childhood. After giving them a spin the traditional way, I realized I am no better at the subtle art of yo-yo-ing (is that a word?) today than I was in the days of yore. Good thing I know how to repurpose!

Materials:
Five old yo-yos
Vintage squeegee
Five 1 1/2 in. wood screws
Wood cleaner
Wood glue
Two picture hangers
Tool List:
Screw gun
Tape measure
Scissors
Rag to apply wood cleaner
Method:
Step 1: Clean squeegee with wood
cleaner (we use Skidmore's.)
Wood cleanser will bring a warm glow to the squeegee.
Step 2: Cut string from yo-yos.
Step 3: Measure for yo-yo placement starting with the center yo-yo. Space evenly.
Step 4: Glue yo-yos into place and let dry.
Step 5: Flip squeegee over and attach yo-yos with wood screws.
Make sure the screws aren't so long that they poke out the front of the yo-yo. That's bad karma.
Step 6: Measure and place one picture hanger to each top end.
Unless you like the tilted look, keep the hangers on the same level (measure twice, cut once and all that jazz.)
The finished yo-yo hanger (sans pictures.)
Up close 'n fabulous.
Tip: Hang pictures of your choice. I used pre-cut picture greeting cards, envelopes with a cellophane front, black mat board, star grommets, and narrow leather cord. Oh, and of course, vintage letters from auto emblems to identify the peeps in the pics!
After you make it, show it off to other members in the Member Junk area.

We'll have to have a contest!Junking and hula-hooping at the same time kind of like rhythmic gymnastics. I'll submit it to the olympic committee, we're tight. Ha! Posted: 5:16 pm on August 25th
