Finishing my Shutter Headboard
February 5th, 2009 in member junkThis headboard has been finished for some time now, but I never REALLY finished it. It didn't bother me before, but with my growing appreciation for details, I feel the need to add the final step.
The project began with shutters that matched, and then I found I didn't have enough. But as so often happens, what first seemed a negative turned into a positive. By using two shutters with openings I could make it work and include a personal touch. I constructed it with a simple design and painted it flat white. I think it has a cottage/beachy feel. But now how to fill the 2 openings. I could do something upholstered, or maybe glass and photos, or maybe poems (but if it goes in a cottage who knows who'll use it). I thought even some kind of meaningful quote (ala Jenny). But I can't quite decide, so if anyone has any thoughts, fire away.

I can't offer any advice as to what you should do because I like them open just as they are.
You did a FABULOUS job on this headboard.
