In a previous life, this compote used to be silverplated and dull. I painted it pink and then sanded the edges for that Shabby Chic look.
A vintage pink stone earring (or maybe it was a broach) sets this piece off!
Vintage glass prisms give it some sparkle!
Mint green satin ribbon is woven around the edge of the compote.

A dull boring old silverplate compote finds new life painted pink with some added BLING!

Faeryhollow writes: You have SUCH great ideas! I have many pieces of old, worn silverplate, and I'd love to try the paint effect on some pieces. The bead and ribbon trim is another lovely addition. I've also seen silverplate pieces with broken china mosaic, and I've always wanted to try that. It would be beautiful combined with the paint.

MimiToria writes: Now, I really love what you've done on this project. The vitnage earring is icing on the cake. I just love vintage jewelry touches and the idea to paint a bad silver plate piece is very cool. I hadn't thought of doing this, but it is a great way to use and showcase a fine piece of silver.
My bf and I are putting on a shower for her daughter, and I will for sure have to show her this post for serving piece ideas. Thanks for the inspiration.

junktiqueboutique writes: Another GREAT idea. I don't have a compote but I have a silver plated tray (with a little rust) just like this compote. I've got plenty of bases I could glue it to. I love the colors you chose too. I have so many of these trays I got for wedding gifts in the 70's (hence the rusty part) and want to rework them. Thanks for your ideas.
