pofolksdecorator1 writes: I found some silver and love silverware jewelry. How do you bend real silverware into the rounded shape like for a bracelet or ring? Koolest collar ever! Annie (pofolksdecorator1) Posted: 11:57 am on February 28th
tamilyn writes: Coming around late, as usual.....The collar is beautiful! And, I think that is my silverware pattern! Posted: 5:02 pm on January 11th
junkpainter writes: I just joined the site and think it's great that there even was a contest. Your collar is beautiful. I wouldn't think that would only need to be for a pet, it's very pretty. A bracelet maybe. Posted: 7:54 pm on January 7th
shabbychick writes: Janis - a belated CONGRATULATIONS to you for winning the dog collar contest! I love the silver elegance, and I'm sure Doby does too!

Thanks for sharing the "how-to" - I may have to try a silverware project.

Like your idea about putting the collar over a wine bottle, and would love to see some of your other creative ideas. So glad you liked the collar....it was such a fun contest. Welcome to the junkmarket site!!

Buyologist writes: The collar is very pretty but I think it would be too heavy and uncomfortable on a dog -- especially a small dog. I would rather see it over a wine bottle, or used creatively for something else. Posted: 3:24 am on December 31st
fellowjunker writes: Hi Debbiejean.........just saw your question and am hoping you'll check back and see my response. I, too, had many attempts at trying to bend silverware with not too much luck, and have found that the best way to do it is too heat the metal first with a blow torch. I have a little craft sized one from LeeValley that works really well......I found instructions on the web for heating and working with the silver.......it sounds complicated, but really it isn't. Also, after months of hand sawing the silverware into pieces with a hacksaw I started using my dremel instead and it is so much easier and leaves a cleaner line.
I have a busy couple of weeks coming up, but will do a posting of the steps I used sometime in January for you.
Hope this helps a bit.
Happy New Year!!!!

Debbiejean writes: What a cute dog collar! It was my favorite as well. How did you bend the spoon? I have been working on a spoon bracelet and not having much luck so far with bending them. Is there a way to bend them so they are nicely shaped?

georgiamoon writes: Janis I loved the great collar you made but I must say that everyone did such a great job that it was hard to pick. There were so many good entries and everyone deserves a big hand for the inventive collars ...and pets...that were sent in. gotta love someone who can make a cat sit still, and a HORSE!! Yay to all of you...this was the most fun ever! Georgia Posted: 2:52 pm on December 27th
MimiToria writes: Congratulations Janis. I loved your collar you made for Doby and it garnered my vote. I've worked with silverware and have made jewelry with it before, and because it is quite difficult to work with, I knew just how much time and effort you had put into making this collar for Doby. It is very original and so very cool. Doby rocks!
Congrats my friend!
