I've used these old mason jars to hold stockings for years.  I just filled them with sand and added some candle rings and raffia.  I used the jars that had the wire and glass tops so it was easy to tie the stockings on.  I place voltive candles on top of the sand and light them on Christmas eve.  Just be careful that your raffia is away from the candles!

First of all I love your screen name...rolls right off the tongue. Also makes me laugh because I have been known to go junking in my PJs at those very early morning flea markets. Of course I had a jacket on. Ha! I think MelHow took the words right out of my mouth...exceedingly clever idea! It's adorable too. Way to go! Welcome to the site and I look forward to seeing more of your projects.

Happy Holidays!
