dream catcher from vintage doily

I got inspired to make one of these after seeing linda choate's post a little while ago.

 

I had a whole stash of vintage linens and doilies, and I also had a bunch of beads and little do-dads. The only thing I had to purchase was the bamboo embroidery hoop from Michael's.

I don't think it looks too bad for the first try- I hope to make more soon and hang them on my back porch.

shamrockerin writes: I started another one recently, but instead of using an embroidery hoop and 'sandwiching' the doily between the pieces, I used a random metal hoop I had in my stash (maybe from a lampshade?). I used jute woven through the edge of the doily to attach it to the hoop. It was more challenging because I really wanted the doily perfectly centered, but I think I came close. I am trying to decide what kinds of embellishments to add to it. Maybe thin strips of linen or lace? Posted: 5:15 am on March 22nd
