My grandparents were hardworking people. They would put a full days work and go to bed after the ten-o-clock news. Everyday except on New Years Eve. That was when the neighbors (All 4 of them) from miles around would gather at our kitchen table and play Pinocle to the wee hours of 12:32 am! It was a serious tournament with high stakes winning like bragging rights for the entire year. (Ha-ha)

You can buy a deck of cards for under $4.00, but these specific cards are invaluable to me. They have history from being used annually and I see so much beauty in the ornate detail. I layered those designs to carefully replicated the patterns that are on a butterflies wing. The top of the mobile is made from wild grapevine. It grows rampant in my neighborhood. The crystals create dancing rainbows all along the walls of my living room. Especially on sunny days, when the room is lit up like a disco ball. It is such a happy reminder of a time of laughter and fun with my grandparents.
