It was just a plain, wooden chair. I painted it blue to give it some color, and then it started to speak to me.
sorry the photo is a bit shiny. Bu the seat of the chair is decoupaged with illustrations from Michael Hagues version of The Little Mermaid. Hes my favorite illustrator, and I do have another copy of this boo, which will not get cut up. ;)
just another shot of the chair

I think this chair was a roadside find. It sat for a long time in my side yard, waiting to be made over. I love mermaids, and I decided I wanted at least one piece of mermaid-centric furniture, but I'm a terrible artist so drawing/painting myself was out of the question.

This book was water damaged already. It's The Little Mermaid, illustrated by Michael Hague (my favorite illustrator!) The pictures were begging to be used for something, so I decoupaged them onto the chair. I still have to do another coat od mod-podge or sealant.

I also plan to embellish the chair (not the parts where a person would be sitting, but the sides and back) with shells and pearls, etc.
