Mr. Chipley is doing a fine job of keeping the Lego creations organized. His motherboard would be proud.
Did you notice his epaulettes? Those are the handles from the pots I turned into planters earlier this month.
Mr. Chipley started life peddling potato chips in gas stations. He was pleased as punch when I hauled him home from a flea market. First off I gave him plexi-glass shelves so those itty bitty Lego pieces wouldnt escape his reach. Then we got down to business letting his personality come to life.
I  happened upon a lone set of tail lights which turned out to be just the right size for his eyes.
Mr. Chipley was thrilled to flex his pipes and get a tan.
Chipley is stylin with his Bakelite control panel. Dont those buttons look sorta space age?
In his off hours Mr. Chipley keeps a watchful eye over my sleeping son. The bunkbed was an incredible score from Craigslist. That ceiling fan was a mother-son geography project we made using pages from a vintage Atlas.
Mr. Chipley seems right at home. Eat your heart out, R2 D2.

Turning this otherwise cute metal shelf into a "robot" display for Legos provided great bonding time with my son. I taught him about elbow joints, couplings, and how to spray paint. It's amazing how much more kids appreciate their stuff when they have a hand in making it.
