I've noticed something lately. As this site grows (and I am so happy it does) the less comfortable people become with commenting. When the site was smaller everyone seemed to know each other and I think it's about time we re-create that family feel. This is all about growing pains....and we can work through this together.

Challenge # 1: All old members please look through the posts and welcome a new member...JUNKMARKET Style. I will do the same.

Challenge # 2: Find a member post that has slipped through the cracks and comment on their post. I will do the same.

Challenge # 3: Step out of your circle. Reach out to someone you don't usually follow. I will do the same.

Challenge #4:

The Project Challenge!

Mason Jars...a junker's staple. Your challenge is...drum roll please... to create something from a Mason jar for the holidays that is not a candleholder or a light fixture. I don't care what color your jar is or how many you use....just be yourself.

You will hav until December 15th to submit your challenge project. While projects are being posted I encourage you to look through the site and comment on other challenge submissions.

After the 15th I would ask that all email me at junkmarketstyle@gmail.com and vote for your favorite project. Please put "Challenge Vote" as the subject. I will tally the votes and the project receiving the most votes will receive an autographed book from me. Editors and contributors are encouraged to post projects, but only member projects can be voted on. This is not meant to be a win/lose situation...just an exercise in creativity and friendship.

I am so proud to be a member on this site and am looking forward to seeing all of your creative works!! Let the fun begin. Remember to reach out and greet someone new. This is what the holiday season is all about!

Did you make this?
After you make it, show it off to other members in the Member Junk area.
Post your project photos

And now, I am finally starting to post my things! And this was my first...and many more will follow. Everyone is so warm and encouraging...what a great feeling! Thank you, Sue, for the opportunity for all of us to be able to do this! What a wonderful achievement...I have followed you from way back!

JunkArchitect writes: Sue, I finally found an old Mason Jar. I was starting to think I was only junker on earth that didn't own one. I'll get something together soon for your Challenge.

CraftyMis writes: Awesome! I am new to this site, but appreciate your style! it's true, we followers tend to put the style guru on a pedestal, but you started out like we did, so good on ya!

Looking forward to going back and learning all about your site and blog! Posted: 8:48 am on December 12th

Junkpony writes: This is a wonderful idea, Sue. I echo what Georgia said - I haven't been taking enough time lately to explore and comment on posts... or getting around to posting projects myself! "It takes a village.." (does that apply to junking?) Posted: 1:23 pm on November 20th
Adrienne writes: OK Ive been wanting to post but haven't. I guess that Ill have to learn how to become a little more techy. I LOVE jars, so this is going to be right up my alley. Posted: 1:13 pm on November 20th

JunkArchitect writes: I think it's a great idea and I miss the days when there were literally hundreds of members commenting all the time. In just a few more weeks it will be five years since I posted my first project and I have NO plans to ever stop sharing my creations...it's therapy from my day job. The talented members on JMS have kept me inspired and motivated with their skills and cleverness at repurposing. I look forward to each and every new post.

I would love to see the site become more interactive again. I am guilty of not taking the time to comment and explore some of the posts that have gotten missed. I think this is a great idea, especially for all of us "oldies" that used to have so much fun commenting and getting feedback from members. Let's bring it back to the community we had not so long ago! I'm all over this!
