Dresser to Window bench

I was just itching to have a window bench seat that offered storage.  A woman called and asked if I had wanted her dresser, after seeing it, I figured it was perfect!
Sadly, I got too excited to work on it and before I remembered to take a before picture, I had already cut the legs off and removed the drawers to strip. But, you can picture, as long as it is the right length for your window and with legs off, it doesnt go over the sill, any long dresser will work just fine.
The drawers are out and getting ready to be stripped.
A close up of the finished drawers. I added some black wax to them after to give a little more of a rustic look.
In use as simply a display area in front of the window.

As you can see, I chopped the legs off this dresser and dropped it to the ground. The main body of it was a perfect fir for under this window and offered the storage we needed as well. I opted to remove two middlw drawers to offer a display box for other things. I built in a little cubby hole to maintain the support required for the centre of the bench and then refinished the top and stained it a nice darker colour.
