Ta da!!!  A wind chime ready to hit the summer night air and wake up my neighbors...oops, I mean its ready for sale at The Summer Market!  (But, I may need to test it for a day or two...sorry in advance!)
A thrift store find - a silverplate candy/serving dish.  Maybe I should just fill it up with some yummy M&Ms...hmmm...decisions, decisions!!
Well, obviously the M&Ms didnt make it to the dish.  So, I flipped the dish over, and screwed the handle back in...now that looks like it just might work!
I dirlled...oops drilled holes around the dish so I could string my wire (very thin gauge) through.
I used sea glass for a little color at the top, and also to hold each wire in place (from the top side, and just under the silver dish too).  The sea glass was probably bought from Hobby Lobby or Joanns...not picked up on the beach - although that would have been so much more fun!!)
And, wired the spoons (which I had previously drilled holes into), adding sea glass for some color.
Isnt this serving fork fabulous???  Love how ornate it is!
Here is a sign I painted (I think the wood is an old pelt stretcher); mounted it on a rusty bicycle wheel, and added some vintage bicycle license plates (which were purchased with cereal box tops in the 60s...).  And, now were ready to rent some bikes!!  (Hmmm...gotta find a couple old tandems, that would be great!  Yep!!)
One of my stamped necklaces - very popular at the lake!!
A stack of two old books, drybrushed and glued together, wrapped with old fabric, and decorated with vintage treasures!  Ahh...nothing like summer memories!
My favorite sign so far...and itll be hard to part with!  An oar/paddle mounted to an old piece of wood (about 4 feet long), and a vintage boat license plate added for a pop of color and charm!  I found a bunch of the license plates on a junking trip up near Lake Michigan last summer.
One more sign... GO JUMP IN THE LAKE!!  And you know I mean that in the nicest way!
Ta da!!!  A wind chime ready to hit the summer night air and wake up my neighbors...oops, I mean its ready for sale at The Summer Market!  (But, I may need to test it for a day or two...sorry in advance!)

Ta da!!!  A wind chime ready to hit the summer night air and wake up my neighbors...oops, I mean it's ready for sale at The Summer Market!  (But, I may need to test it for a day or two...sorry in advance!)

Hello all!  Hope your summer is going well (and not too fast...we love our summer in Ohio - as I know my friends in Minnesota do too!!!)  My friends and I (Nostalgia's Cottage) are getting ready for our next show - The Summer Market, in Avon Lake, Ohio - July 26 and 27.

I wanted to share one of my projects - a wind chime that I made from a thrift store find - silverplate candy dish, some silverware, sea glass and wire.  So, here's kind of a step-by-step... I love the sound of silverware chiming in the wind (not sure my neighbors do, but I'll try to keep the noise to a minimum!).

And, since I had a few extra spots for pictures (Sue, you know I have to use all 12!!!), I'm sharing a few of my other projects - hot off the press!  And...ready to sell. If anyone is in the Avon Lake area (west of Cleveland), The Summer Market is a fabulously charming event to visit.

There will be over 50 talented vendors and artists selling their unique wares - antique & vintage repurposed and recycled/upcycled, restyled/redesigned, and everything in between!  A "sweet" group of local food vendors will be on hand to make sure no one goes away hungry - happy for sure, but not hungry!  Music will fill the air and fun will be the order of the show!  Shopping, food, music AND all on the shores of Lake Erie - it's a perfect combination!

Here's the link to their website: http://www.thesummermarket.com/ - and don't forget to visit their facebook page and "like" - https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Summer-Market/160203031963?fref=ts

After The Summer Market it'll be on to....THE SPRINGFIELD ANTIQUE SHOW & FLEA MARKET (featuring:  THE VINTAGE MARKETPLACE - with our own hostess with the mostest...Sue Whitney (and crew). (September 20-22)  Can't wait...!

Happy junking!!! Kathy
