The soft goodness of vintage napkins is all wrapped up in modern goodness and color for sun shiny days!
Grab some vintage napkins all soft and worn and with pretty detail. Head off to the fabric store and select a colorful selection of fabric. Grommets or eyelets with the appropriate tools, tape measures, and pins, buttons or whatever you want to wrap them all together. Get playful!!
20 x 20 napkins are made by simply cutting and sewing up the edges. Even I can do it. I didnt, but I could..really I could. I was busy embellishing while Dianne was sewing. Thats my story and I am sticking to it.
Mark the corner of the napkin, cut a small hole and attach your eylet with the eylet tool and a hammer. Its all about details. The metal adds another modern edge to the softness of the vintage white napkins.
Fold your new napkin and the vintage napkins into triangles and layer. You will want to see the frilly edge of the vintage napkin at the bottom.
Fold them up any way you like. Im a basic fold girl myself.
The color of the new napkins is playful while the vintage napkin adds a touch of romance! Yummy!
Take a new or even better...a vintage tape measure and cut lengths that will work for napkin rings.
Wrap your napkins with the tape measure pieces and use whatever you want to secure them. I wanted to keep it simple and in the sewing theme so I used safety pins. You coul sew them together with vintage buttons or use a vintage lapel pin or earring. The sky is the limit.
Tuck in some flowers and grasses and poof you are done. OK...you still have to come up with a table setting...but this is a good start. I have one all ready to go, but it is going to Ohio for the Vintage Marketplace and Springfield Extravaganza inn Springfield, Ohio, May 17, 18, and 19. Ill send pics when its all set to go. Better yet...join us in Ohio!
And there you have it...Im digging all the color. It has, as you all know been a very long winter!!
Yup...all packed for Vintage Marketplace.
