Sometimes some things need a lot of TLC.
In the beginning ... there was a roughed up, but leggy little beauty sitting in my work room ... clearly shouting for love!
Next step - pick the design you want to use and beginning drawing it on your surface. I recommend using charcoal to draw with. It erases easily!!! For those @#@# OOPS" moments!
here it is after the total burn step.
Now for adding the depth and shading. I chose to use an abony stain here. A few layers later and she was ready for a top coat.
Now for the top coats of colour. I chose a translucent red :) It allowed the staining process to show through nicely.
I then chose to paint the background black, to allow the design to "pop" better. I was all over trying blues and whites, but thought - lesss colour and neautral background will allow it to match a wider span of customer homes and decor.
Inspect everything close up to make sure you have no more oopsy spots before sealing it.
another close up shot for inspection
And then of course, the final product. Im currently trying to decide of ot should remain a table of go up on the wall as a HUGE piece of wall art. hmmmm.
The finished table with legs and the option to do them in black.

I wanted to push my artistic side to the ultimate challenge. Something that incorporated a lot of the things I enjoy - refinishing, burning, staining, painting and "testing". I figured, I might as well go all out on the design, why not? And after a lot of hmmmming and hawwwwing the design was chosen, then created, then the process began!
