Voila Cest magnifique! Shes all done and off to the Boutique!
Here she is before. The veneer was pretty bad. But I never see that.
And here is her inside shot before. I didnt touch it. Aside from some oil to brighten her up!
The jist of it - I painted her black. And thought about painting on some graphics, or letters, or simply leaving her black with a slight rustic wearing. But then, I found a new tool to strip. And it strips - more so in a chipping fashion... so I decided to test it out on this beauty and fell in love. But then, I didnt know what to do with it from there. So she sat ... for a while...... THEN, I saw some old photos.... and wanted a way to display them.....
I had a bunch of burlap bags from a farmer that had no use for them, and after making these pillow covers, I had some scraps. The edging of them. I was cleaning the scraps up and when I had a piece of the edging in my hand, I happened to walk past the trunk .... stopped, took two steps back and held it up to the trunk and thought - PHOTO FRAME!!!!! YES!!!!
After I white washed everything - including the photos, and put a poly over only the photos for more protections, I added the Burlap bag edging. And of course some tacs for a little touch of metal feel.
I then added my dark wax over the entire piece for that aging effect I LOVE SO MUCH!!!!! (yes Id marry it if I could so just you hush! haha) Chippy, rough, washed, waxed, love love love!

It is so common for pieces to sit around here for a very long time in between steps. Reason being, I have a design idea ...... I work towards that image in my head .. decide it's just not quite right, and leave it until inspiration strikes back up! I'd rather it sit and wait to be perfect in my eyes, than rush it and end up with something I snub my own nose at. And I dooooo love that old vintage feel!
