When I started building this little table I had a completely different vision for it--white base with a stained wood top.  However when I picked a cabinet door for the table top that had been stripped on one side, I noticed some great colors on the edge of it.  I started to sand the side that was still painted and found wonderful layers of paint--white, yellow, red, mauve, orange, bright green, all under the minty aqua on top.  I went with it, changing my plans and painted the base orange and used the colorful side of the cupboard door for the top.  Sometimes, going with the flow results in a better project.
