Bright & Cheery Metal Ashtray Birdfeeder

Photo: Me!

I found this old metal ashtray when we moved into the old one room schoolhouse we're renovating into our home. Hubby wanted to throw the "piece of junk" away, but I snatched it up, hid it, and painted it while he was out one day. He loved it when he saw it. I have to say, I'm rather proud of how great it turned out!

I cleaned it up really good first, let it dry thoroughly, then began painting using Rust-Oleum paints. The base & feeder bowl are both painted like a Sunflower. We live in Kansas and this just seemed appropriate.

My next project is an old, rusty, dented, very small wheel barrow. I'll paint it up bright & pretty and make a garden in it! I'll post pictures of it as well when it's complete.
