I chose aqua, silver, white & taupe for the colors I wanted to use this year.
I have a lot of neutral colors in our livingroom and just decided rather than use the multi colored decor with my faux green tree, I would do something completely different than I had in the past.
I used a minature angel wings for the top of the tree and have several sprinkled through out the tree too. If you notice the photo above my daughter, Emily, was dressed as an angel when she was 7 for this angel photo that is next to the tree.
This photo shows a heart shaped primitive style oranment that I added vintage jewelry to as well as misc. other items.
I used a mix of homemade ornaments, vintage ornaments and new vintage inspired ornaments. I found boxes of ornaments for $1.00 at the same thrift store that I bought the broken tree that I created this from. This store turned out to be a good place to shop.
You may notice I had a hard time figuring out which angel print looked best next to the tree. My daughter, Emily's softer toned print won out.
Great patina on this rusty stand I bought about 3 years ago at Buffalo Nickel from Dinah. I just love it!
Love the curves on this stand. May have been a flag stand in its former life.
This full length photo shows you the entire tree, but I have since removed the rope like strands coming from the top, as I didn't like the look of it.
One more area in our livingroom that is ready for the holidays. Subtle decor such as the silver, vintage millinery rose, and sparkle stars on the mirror. The lady to the left is one of my favorite treasures and had been my maternal grandmothers. I believe I inherited her junking genes as well. : )
I chose aqua, silver, white & taupe for the colors I wanted to use this year.
This is the results of my new tree I created. Thanks Lani for the great inspiration!

I have an old white Christmas tree that I love - (from the thrift store). And, a few years ago, I spotted another one while driving my mother-in-law home (it was on the curb - in a pile of free garage sale leftovers) - I had her hop out (after quite a bit of coaxing/begging) and grab it for me - while I drove the getaway car! A funny memory! (I handed that one down to my daughter!)

Deb the rusty color was in my scheme all along, but I hadn't noticed until you commented how well it actually ties in with the rusty stand. Quite a contrast otherwise with the white and rusty color.
Kari - you are too funny. I am a Lani fan, and wouldn't even consider myself close to her class. She's just got that special gift that is a rarity. An excellent eye for design. Posted: 1:55 pm on December 1st
Lovely, lovely, lovely! I am now feeling that I need a white tree too! Add me to the "just like Gretchen & Lani list"! The stand is wonderful -- very near the shape of the base of a coat rack/stand I have on my porch.
Excellent as always!

Can you believe I haven't even taken my ornaments out yet, these were all ones I picked up this year for this theme tree. I'm bad with Christmas oranaments. I have a stash of hundreds of vintage, and than I go make and buy all of this. Good thing a bunch were from the Thrift store, Walmart, Lowe's, Menards and Target. Who would think you would find such fun stuff at these places.
Now, Candy keep your eyes open for a cast off white faux tree, so that you can make one too.
