Heres the finished shelf.  Its perfect for this particular place in my family room.
This is how the shelf looked when I pulled its components from other peoples trash.
A bit of paint, some distressing, add a cute little dog...
I raised the trim to form a lip and had glass cut to fit the shutter on top.  The old postcards were handy.  A friend suggested putting a light under the top to diffuse light out of the side and top louvers.  I might just do that!
Turned out very sturdy!

Perhaps everyone's tired of seeing yet another shutter/door project.  Or, (like me) maybe not!

I needed a shelf for this particular spot in my family room and had a nice little pile of treasures to work with.  And it was waaaay fun!
