Mini Stepladder Card Tree

a little twine, and some wood clothes pins, plus a few festive red industrial clips to hang cards  

The steps make perfect shelves for a few little displays

you can see a little ice skate toe peeking out

An old hem marker with a couple of cards helps hide the outlet and plug for some colored lights.

Inspired by Funky Junk Donna's stepladder tree (you might have started a trend here, Donna) and also by a couple of other posts using ladders to display cards---  I remembered I had this mini stepladder which I found in the curbside trash when walking the dog at 6:00am.   I really did need a small stepladder, but once I brought it home I discovered why it had been thrown out:  too wobbly to stand on.  I left it outside in pouring rain by accident and that did the trick:  the joints swelled and now it's tight as new, yet still has that beat up chipped paint look...

I positioned it on a little area of the kitchen counter where the cabinets end.  I stuffed it with last year's ice skate displays of holly and poinsettia for color...a whole lot easier than stuffing it with a tree!
