Vintage Door Corner Shelf

Vintage Door Corner Shelf

I found what was ugly bright gold door but I love old doors...  I cut the door in half down the middle then scraped, sanded, and waxed the pieces.  I cut a piece of one-by-one to the length of the door and waxed it as well.  I cut shelves and supports and sand and waxed them as well.  (Prior to waxing, I used a router on the exposed edges of the shelves for a finished look.)  I glued and screwed the shelf supports to the door and then glued and screwed the one-by to the inside edge of half the door, then added the other half of the door to create a corner case.  Starting with the bottom shelf I screwed it down from the top and continued up with the remaining shelves.  The result is a very heavy, sturdy corner bookcase great for any room needing a little extra storage.
