Tub Setee

Tub Setee

Photo: Sherri Spear

I can't take credit for the brilliant reuse of the tub.  The tub belongs to a friend who asked me to make cushions and pillows for it so she could use it on her porch.  The cushions and pillows are my design.  The decorative pillow in front is my take on a garden window.  The window pane was made by using the floral fabric and giving it a softer faded look by turning into chenille.  A wide flat trim was used to frame the window pane and there are clear droplike beads to resemble raindrops on the window.  The flowers and leaves are silk to add dimension....but let's face it...the real star is the tub!

Happy_Scrapper writes: I love this idea. I have 2 of these tubs. My husband keeps wanting to sell them & I won't let him. What was used to cut this tub? The other one I want to make into a fountain Posted: 11:16 am on May 11th

Fifi writes: My sister in law has a tub like this and we would love to make it into a settee like this. We need to know what the tub was cut with. If a saw what kind of blade, etc. Thanks for all the neat ideas.

junkredeemer writes: CleverJunk, what an amazing idea! After I got over my first thoughts of "vintage tub sacriledge", I loved it! I've got the tub and my friend has the torch! This is my next project! Oh by the way, I met Susie in Franklin, Tn at "Bella Rustica" in September, such a nice lady! Posted: 8:27 pm on January 2nd

CleverJunk writes: Sue, If you see this, I ran into Ken Fuller today at the hardware store...seems like I see him every time I'm there. Told him about our coincidence and he had a good laugh. If you look at my "hat stand" post, that is his original painting. It was his first attempt at painting water. I absolutely love it and he told me today that I made a good investment; I purchased that painting at his first studio show and his prices have doubled....wouldn't matter to me though because I absolutely love the painting and don't ever plan to sell it. As you know, Ken and Susie are "good people", always warm, inviting, and talented. Is your book out? I can't wait to see it if you did a photo shoot there. I did many, if not all, of their window treatments.

suewhitney writes: Oh, man....that's too funny. It's the same exact one that I took naps in! How is Susie? She and her family are so delightful! They made my life so much easier when I was out in SLO I can't tell you! Their dog Shadow was our cover model. Ahhh....thanks for bringing a smile to my face. I gotta get back out there!

Thanks for sharing this with me!

CleverJunk writes: Thanks everyone. Sue, I believe you know the owner of this settee...it's Susie of the Three Speckled Hens. I made the cushions several years ago and just ran across the picture this week.
