Vintage Sled Centerpiece

When our home was chosen to be one of 4 on the Holiday Walk, I knew this was the year to make my table centerpiece out of the old sled Id been saving for years! AND my grandfathers chandelier was installed just in time to add some sparkle to the room too!
The sled JUST fit between all the plates, and I stuffed fresh greenery underneath for a festive look.
My table cloth was a non-practical, but fun-for-the-occasion burlap laid on the angle.  The sled held a glass cake plate with a cake candle surrounded by small bells.
Each place setting had the plates stacked with the napkin in-between... and the champagne glass had a small piece of burlap tucked inside ... again not practical, but fun for show!
FYI.... plenty of burlap dust while setting this table!  Once it was done, it fit the theme for our country home.

I'm loving all the decorating ideas with burlap. This year I used it on my table design, and vintage pieces are always fun to add to the mix.

rustiqueart writes: Absolutely fabulous...I love every part this design. It will be a sad day for me if burlap ever goes out of style...I guess that will be the day that I stay stuck in this period of decor, I adore working with it and decorating with it. I even painted my walls in shades of burlap! Your sled not only adds dimension to your tablescape, it adds charm, warmth and I'm positive it will stir up many conversations around your table this holiday season.

Blessings,

June writes: Tammy's Kokomo home was a delightful departure for this year's Holiday Home Tour...the first 'shabby-chic-country-home'. It was packed with unique ideas for creating a holiday-home using the things you love and live with. Her 'party barn' was decorated as well, and used as the site for selling baked goods. Record ticket sales and sold-out baked goods provided an outstanding charity project. Congratulations, Tam! Posted: 6:30 am on November 29th

georgiamoon writes: Tammy, this is a great table setting and it looks really festive. The sled is a fantastic idea and I am sure that the folks touring your home will be delighted. Probably many of them will be running home to search their garages, looking for little Timmy's old sled. The chandelier is lovely too.

It is with a song in my heart that I introduce your final new contributor at JMS for 2012...Tammy Hodges. She, without a doubt has great style and that is what we are all about here. She is an antique dealer, but likes to put a junky twist to her antiquing ways. I've enjoyed her posts as I'm sure you all have too. She's a little bit country with modern appeal. A girl after my own heart! As you can see by this post, this girl practices what she preaches and that my friends is a good thing. Please give a hearty JMS welcome to Miss Tammy. Thanks, Tammy...I look forward to seeing more great things from you. Welcome!

Be Well,
Sue
