Before.  Sorry, I forgot to take a photo before I took out the shelves.  You get the idea, ugly, pre-fab, boring, beat-up bookcase.
My hubby added some wainscoting that was left over from another project.
After.
With all my stuff on it.  I put all of my paperbacks in one basket, cookbooks in another, and small books in the smallest baskets.

OK, so this is another of my Mama's hand-me-downs.  I happened to mention to her that I needed a bookcase.  Low and behold, wouldn't ya know my mother had this one hiding in one of her sheds?  (Yes, I think she has one of EVERYTHING in there!)  Anyway, I've been using it as it was for years but, after finding JMS, knew this had to be on my to-do list.

As you can see, this was just a Wal-mart type bookcase and it needed some uumph.  My hubby added some wainscoting we had leftover from another project.  I primed it and painted it white, with leftover paint, of course.  I decoupaged wrapping paper I found at Hobby Lobby for $5.99 but, with my 40% off coupon, I only paid $3.59!  Now, I feel like I have a brand new beautiful bookcase to hold all of our books and showcase some of our pretties.  I put my Daddy's yearbooks on the second shelf so I can see them anytime.  He's been gone 35 years now so that means a lot to me.  The baskets add a lot of room and hide some of the "ugly" books.  Oh, and with the added room, my son now has his own shelf!  Love that!
