My mantel just got a new makeover.  Not a major one, just some suttle changes.
This was the before.  Nice...but it need a little more magic!
This canvas was given and personalized for me by my friend Sue Wolfe of Destination Art MN.  It is a staple on my mantel.
This was my inspiration piece that will help with my magic act, purchased over the summer at a local flea market.  I love how small it is.
Now you know, most mantels are not very wide, and mine is no exception.  So guess what, the street sign comes apart!
So I was able to change the angle of it.  Itll fit perfect!  Poof!  Just like magic!
I found a bunch of these scale weights.  Theyll work great to hold candles.
And they have great patina.
These is a little magic trick Sue taught me.  Just a little ribbon and an upholstery tack around a candle is just the right touch...like magic!
I think they turned out rather spiffy!
Ive had this architectural piece in a few different places in my house, and once already on the mantle.  I think itll be perfect back up there.
So what do you think?  Did I work my magic?

Gosh, I have a lot of cool junk pieces (not that I'm bragging mind you...just been lucky I guess!).  But I like to keep them on hand just in case I want to change things up.  And I was more than ready to do a little magic on my mantel.  And like "Presto Change-O"!  I have a new vignette!

CottageElements writes: Marge, I'm sure you have fabulous "magic" in decorating! Thanks, ljprince and gadgetsponge. The canvas piece is a very special piece to me. The salon on it is my husband's. We've had it for almost 26 years and some of the landmarks on it are close by or the building he's in. Like I said, very special!
