Sunflower unfinished

I posted a pic of this sunflower after it was brightly painted green and yellow.  I didn't know why it wouldn't sell... turns out- the unanimous opinion was because I had brightly painted it green and yellow... so, here is the before picture.

I'm going to hit it with a wire wheel, tint any remaining paint to give it that old look and place it in the middle of my yard next to the water sprinkler for as long as it takes!  I may also go to the local salvage yard and see if I can find some old shovels to serve as leaves or maybe get some wire mesh and make bird seed holder leaves?  We'll see....  It would be pretty cool if it served a purpose, i.e. bird feeder!

Thanks again for your help- sometimes the obvious escapes me- shiny and new looking doesn't sell so well at an antique store!
