Finished project. This doll high chair was my sisters who is 50 this year. I repaired & painted it for my Great Nieces 3rd birthday. The colors are the same as her bedroom decorations.
Unfinished beginning. Notice the tray is just laying on there. The knobs to hold it on & one of the spacers were lost. I used large round wood beads with the hole already in it for the spacers. The end knobs were a little more difficult, I couldnt find the size I needed with pre-drilled holes so I had to drill the holes in the ones I did find. Trying to hold these in a clamp & drill a center hole was not easy. I also replaced the metal rod that the tray moves on with a wooden dowel so I could paint it.
Finished back with Paytons name. I cant paint letters so I found stick on letters that I liked. I painted the back the color that I wanted the letters, let it dry overnight. Then I found the center & worked out where I wanted the letters & stuck them on, rubbing them on with a popsicle stick. I then painted the whole back with the pink, multiple coats. Let that dry overnight at least. Using a sharp pointed knife like an X-acto knife, gently peal up the letters. Touch up an paint bleed with a tiny paint brush.
Finished close up. The flowers & butterflies are rub-ons I bought at a craft store. I liked these because they werent to childish or too mature plus they went on with clear edges, nothing to trim away. When I was done all the details I used a permanent marker underneath & signed it with the year. Once everything was done my husband sprayed it with a clear coat. I have asthma so he did this for me.
Final touch a doll from my mother, my Great-Nieces Great Grandmother who passed away several years ago, her favorite color was pink as well.
