You know those 70"s lamps you find in flea markets and yards sales with the large glass globe in the base...usually in green or gold, sometimes clear? The metal on these lamps have beautiful scroll work. I am always looking to ways to use the metal. For a paper towel holder, I took the lamp apart removing all wiring and electrical elements. I sprayed the base and finial top. Then reassembled the lamp replacing a roll of paper towels where the large globe was. I love my junk paper towel holder. Oh and that globe...I use it outside with a candle inside. Using just the base and adding a plate and we have pedestal for our cookies!

bluebucket writes: Great re-use! I had all the parts to make the paper towel holder so made one immediately. Normally I have my paper towels hidden in a drawer but can now have them on the counter on a fantastic paper towel holder. I'll also be looking for more lamps to use the ornate bases as pedestals.
