The beginning of stripping 7 layers of crap off!
Stripped down to bare wood...well without digging the dark spots out...sometimes you just have to deal with it.

Mom brought me another old chair that has been in our family forever!  I think it was a side chair from my Great Grandma's Dining Set.  It is the chair that we used to use as a painting chair for us shorties...

I sanded, stripped, sanded, stripped, and sanded some more...7 layers later, I got down to bare wood...well for the most part.  There were several areas that had black spots that was so far down into the wood, I would have destroyed the chair to get it out.  So I just stained over it with gel stain.

Mom wanted an extra thick seat as this is her desk chair.  So I used extra padding and batting to give it a bit more umph!

It turned out amazing.
