This is a part from a parlor stove.  I am not sure what I am going to do with it.  Do I hang it on the fence, or in the house? I'm also not sure if I want to paint it or what technique to use.   Maybe a dry brushing of white or paint it all cream.  Ideas?

Welcome to JUNKMARKET Style. Glad to see you posting! This is an awesome piece. I would not recommend painting it because I am a big fan of its original rusty patina. Give it a couple of coats of spray poly in a matte finish. This will keep the rust from rubbing off where you don't want it. I love Jim's mirror idea. Is it flat? I love using junk in entertaining so wondering if it could become a lazy susan with a base at the bottom and a piece of glass on the top. Just a thought. Can't wait to see what becomes of it. Good luck!

Be Well,

DonnaG writes: That is a great idea JunkArchitect, this is a dome shape, so I am not sure how easy that would be. I think I will take a wire brush to it (gently) and see if I can't bring out the design a bit more. Posted: 5:16 am on May 31st

The rust colour looks fabulous against my newly painted "lemonade" walls. Posted: 1:26 pm on May 30th
