An Elegant Junky Holiday

Start with a vintage Christmas tree stand picked up at a garage or estate sale. Or, better yet, maybe you have one in the attic or basement!
Simply add some greens and a bottle of champagne, wine, or sparkling water. Voila...a special centerpiece for your holiday table.
This particular tree stand allows for the center tube to be removed. Place it lengthwise on the table to hold a bottle, silverware, napkins, etc. If using it for silverware, you probably want to line it with a cloth napkin first.
Convert the base of the tree stand into a multi-tiered server by placing plates or bowls on each level. Serve chips and dip, veggies, crackers, etc. Mix in a silver chalkboard stand with a loving message (previous photo), a cheese dome (previous photo), or a toast and jam server (this photo) to make it extra special. Dont forget to add a little candlelight and sparkle!
Use an old store display piece as a backdrop to show off your favorite new or vintage ornaments. This is my collection of Serenity angel ornaments glowing in the candlelight.

MakinItHappen writes: These are inspiring ideas. I think one of my New Year's resolutions will be to try to look at things in a more creative way, both objects and ideas.

I also love Sue's idea about member showcase Sundays! Posted: 11:16 am on December 31st

Sue, I like the idea of a member showcase day too - and Sunday is a great day! It's great getting to know all these talented junkers and seeing what everyone is doing - it's unbelievable the wonderful things people come up with!

I was gone for the weekend, and can't believe how much was posted - it'll take me all week to catch up!!! (but, that's a good thing!)

Sue,
I think Sunday showcase is a great idea! I'm game! And you're right. I have met so many great junkers online(yourself, included) because of this site. It truly is a great thing.

I haven't been on site for awhile and I just posted a few projects. I've noticed the "thumbs up awesome"!! Is this something new? Or am I just behind? lol

Thanks for listing so many uses for it too. Such great ideas.

Sue - I think a member showcase would be a lot of fun!

Sue - thank you for operating a fabulous site such as this. It truly has been a positive experience for me, and has used up dozens of my hours surfing the "junkmarketstyle" site. : ) Glad to have you back in Minnesota again. Will you make it to Lani's on Saturday for her open house? Maybe see you then, as I'm scheduled to go from 1-2.

But, today I am catching up and it never ceases to amaze me how delightful, warm, friendly, and talented all of the members are here on JUNKMARKET Style. I feel very fortunate that I have gotten to know you...some in person and some through the site. It's a blast looking through the site and seeing all of your great ideas and witnessing the support you show for each other. Here is just one fine example of what I am talking abut. Way to go Amy, unbelievable ideas! Can you all tell she knows her way around a camera too! Thanks Amy...and to all for bringing a smile to this junker's face. Be well, Sue P.S. Do you think we should dedicate Sundays to member showcase day? Let me know what you think! Posted: 3:33 pm on November 16th
