an ugly light fixture. It looks like a space ship! But I saw potential, and it was only $1.99 at Goodwill

a brown metal candle stand. . .nothing spectacular

and some white stones in the basin for traction. . .I read somewhere that birds do not like slippery surfaces so birth bads should have something in them for them to latch on to.

As soon as I spotted that ugly light fixture, I knew I could do something with it. I wanted to make another birdbath, but I didn't have a base. Finally, the Goodwill gods smiled down on me and I found that metal candle stand. They were married in a very simple ceremony.

I am pleased with the result- I think even someone who doesn't appreciate junk market decor would be please with something that is so sleek and modern looking.
