Forgotten Cedar Chest

After I stripped top, I realized I was dealing with a pretty rustic piece of plywood.  So I did what any junker would do - I went with it, lol!  I dry brushed it in various colors until I got the look I was going for then waxed it for protection.
I already started stripping the veneer in this picture.  It was peeling up all over the place so I put my handy dandy heat gun to good use.
And this is the finished product!  A gal who had seen it at the art show (while it was DOWN POURING, came back the 2nd day only to realize it was a one day show!  She hunted got a hold of the people who had put on the art show and hunted my name down.  She drove up the following week from Chicago to purchase it and uses it as a coffee table in her sun room:)

I found this cedar chest at a barn sale this spring.  With as many people that were there, I was surprised it had been overlooked.  I have to admit it was in sorry shape, but had loads of potential!
