Today at the scrap yard i found a crate full of old watch and clock gears..all brass and 15 pounds of them. Talk about the hard work already done. And there was even a aluminum letter D right on top..saying they are for Damon. I guess gears are my thing this month. I added another picture of them spread out on my workbench..did not think that there was that many in the box.  wow!

csudderth writes: Great find. Did you say you found these at the scrap yard--is that a metal scrap yard? Those are my favorite places of all time and I have spent many a Saturday morning scrounging through the junk. Unfortunately, our local yard has banned us because of liability reasons. I even offered to work part time just to get to see the junk. I can still go there to sell metal and if I'm crafty I can pick up a few things while selling. Just have to make sure my weight isn't more when I leave than when I come! BTW--I love these gears. What do you have in mind for them?

Great find.

TGTG writes: You would make a MINT with those on eBay... IF you decide to sell some of them, be sure to put the keyword STEAMPUNK in the item title and you'll have lots of interest. Good luck!! Posted: 7:59 pm on November 11th
LuAnn writes: There's some junkers out there who would fight for those gears to make jewelry out of. You may be someone's new best friend. Great haul.
