This time last year, the trees were just the tinsel and garland. Since discovering the joys of junking, theyve been a bit embellished with rusty fence finials for toppers, and misc. items like the sifter, flat grater (even the scale which I didnt have pre-junking), and pie plate for their bases.
Almost all of this has been added in the past year - inspired by many from this site. It all has been so much fun to put together!
The trees of course had to have a wreath to go with them. (ok, I admit I just wanted to have an excuse for another project!) Again a gate finial was the starting place for the finished project.
During the year, a sign usually hangs there that says Tastes Like Butter! My whole kitchen is a Paula Deen shrine - the colors were even based off a kitchen makeover that she featured in one of her magazines.
My window frame pot rack, actually I should say copper rack. The center item on the shelf is a candle holder with a Jadeite saucer and cup, holding a chicken (inside joke w/ one of my bffs from college). Over it all is a wire cloche with a crystal finial that I added as its handle.
The Cooky Book is a reprint, my mom has her original one that we always used every Christmas. When it was reissued a few years ago, it was at the top of my wish list!

Whew! That's how I felt going through this Christmas season (didn't we all?)

Here are some pics of how junk played a role in my kitchen for this season. As usual, I was adding up decorations to the last minute - if anything was sitting still long enough in my house it was getting bedecked!
