Chalkboard Message Center from an old oval frameDecember 27th, 2010 in member junk
I found this beautiful frame with an interesting oval cut-out at an antique store. It had a gaudy gold finish when I first discovered it. I spray painted it with "Biscuit" semi-gloss spray paint and had my husband cut a piece of inexpensive MDF board to fit the opening. The MDF didn't have to be a perfect oval, just large enough to cover the opening. Then I painted the MDF with about 6 coats of chalkboard paint. When it was dry, we used a strong wood glue to put it all together and strung picture wire on the back to hang. The message board has a personality of its own. My friends and family are always coming in the room to see "what the board says". LOL. I twisted a cup hook to the side and hung a jumbo piece of chalk from some kitchen twine. Hope you like it!
