Shes a natural beauty.
The tried and true Mason jar...combined with nature shes stellar.
The old zinc lids contain glass. Good thing to know!
Before drilling you will want to remove the glass. If you dont it will be an earth shattering experience. I break it out with a hammer and screwdriver. Wear safety glasses!
Ater the glass has been removed drill a hole in the center. This will allow you to attach the top to your hostess gift and make it ready to use as a bud vase ater the holidays. My hole is one inch, but yours can be any appropriate size for the lid.
Glass, without glass, with hole, without hole,
Fill the jar with moist sand.
Add moss to top for color and texture.
Using ribbon or twine to give the jar a necktie.
Fill with greens of your choice. I like to use Blueberry Juniper in the mix. It plays beautifully off of the galvanized
Set your jar on a tree cookie and garnish.
Well lookie cookie here. A hostess gift that keeps on giving.
Shes a natural beauty.

She's a natural beauty.

Mason jars have been around for a long time and are here to stay. I don't do much canning (imagine that) but I do use them for a host of other things. This one is a twofer. A holiday hostess gift that can be used as a bud vase all year long. A grouping of these with greens or flowers is drop dead gorgeous.

It's truly a more meaningful gift than just grabbing something at the drugstore on your way to the party.
Something I've NEVER, EVER done!
I'm assuming the "Host" gift might have a different kind of Bud in it.
